Stuart R. Farris, M.D. is a Texas native who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baylor University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. While at Baylor, he was nominated into Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges and Phi Beta Kappa. After attending medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, he served in the United States Army. He was stationed both stateside and overseas before completing a residency in ophthalmology at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas.
After serving as an ophthalmologist both stateside and in Operation Desert Storm, Dr. Farris attended the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts for specialized fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Upon completion of this advanced training, Dr. Farris was assigned to Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora Colorado to train new army doctors in ophthalmology.
Dr. Farris is a member of the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a member of the Sangamon County Medical Society. His special interests are in surgery of the eye lid (droopy or baggy eye lids), orbits (bones around the eye) and cosmetic surgery (Crow's Feet and frown lines). In addition to accepting Medicare assignment, Dr. Farris participates with most insurance plans.
