Dr. Smith is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of knee and shoulder conditions. Fellowship trained as a sports medicine doctor, Dr. Smith joined Blue Ridge Orthopaedic & Spine Center in 2008 and has privileges at Fauquier Hospital, Haymarket Medical Center, and Haymarket Surgical Center. He serves as the team physician for Fauquier High School. Dr. Smith received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Princeton University in 1994. He then attended the George Washington University in Washington, DC where he received a Masters of Public Health degree in 1996. After completion of his M.P.H., he moved to Richmond, Virginia where he attended Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and earned his M.D. He completed a surgical internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the West Virginia University Department of Orthopaedics in Morgantown, West Virginia. Following his residency training, he elected to pursue specialized training in Sports Medicine. He completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he helped take care of the Baltimore Ravens and several other regional college teams.
