Peter DeLuca earned his medical degree from Duke University. His residency was with Yale-New Haven Hospital, specializing in pediatric orthopaedic surgery. He joined Newington Children's Hospital in 1986 where he was director of the hip service, foot service, cerebral palsy service as well as the Center for Motion Analysis. In 1996 he joined a private practice, Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists, where he specializes in pediatric orthopaedics as well as performing Ilizarov procedures. Academic appointments include Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Connecticut School of Medicine as well as Lecturer in Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, Yale University School of Medicine.
