Dr. Schechter is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon. His focus is on the conservative treatment of back and neck problems, offering patients an aggressive program of physical therapy, therapeutic injections if indicated, and home exercises.When surgery is warranted, Dr. Schechter offers the most advanced surgical treatment techniques for the care of back and neck injuries, with an emphasis on sports-related injuries, industry and workers compensation injuries, individuals who have undergone multiple surgeries, patients suffering compression fractures and those with chronic neck and back pain. Minimally invasive procedures are performed when indicated.Dr. Schechter is a Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Boston University. He completed his medical school training at Boston University School of Medicine in 1985 and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed an internship in general surgery and his orthopaedic surgery residency in 1990, at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, in Newark. In 1991 he completed a spine surgery fellowship at the prestigious Texas Back Institute.Dr. Schechter is a member of the North American Spine Society, Broward County Medical Association and Florida Medical Association. He is certified as an Expert Medical Advisor (EMA) by the Florida Division of Workers' Compensation.
