Dr. Matthew Abel joined Candlewood Valley Pediatrics in 2001. Originally from Yorktown Heights, NY, he is a 1993 Alumnus of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, where he earned a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Abel also received his MA in Biomedical Educational from Touro College in Dix Hills, NY, in 1994. He completed his medical degree in 1998 from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Faculty of Medicine, in Haifa, Israel. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Abel finished his pediatric residency in 2001 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He is board certified in Pediatrics and is on staff at New Milford Hospital and at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford. He is also certified in pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation. Dr. Abel lives in New Milford with his wife and two children. When not seeing patients in the office, he can be found playing left center field for his softball team, studying Tang Soo Do martial arts, or slicing a drive on any golf course.
