Dr. Justin Chavez Is proud to announce the opening of Cedar Park Pain & Sports Medicine. By opening this practice Dr. Chavez hopes to bring the community a new type of pain management that is directed away from chronic medications and towards a more innovative approach to Pain Management that includes interventional pain injections, stem cell therapy and physical strengthening. In treating individuals with pain syndromes, Dr. Chavez focuses on the musculoskeletal nature of pain and how the mechanics of the spine and bones interplay to create pain. He uses several approaches for gaining stabilization including physical therapy, behavioral modification, patient education and, when appropriate, injection therapy. A specialist in non-surgical treatment for neck and back pain, Dr. Chavez utilizes injection therapy and other interventional procedures directed at the source of pain to treat numerous conditions that do not require surgical attention. A native Austinite, Dr. Chavez completed his undergraduate work at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned his medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he also completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency. Following the completion of his residency, he fulfilled his post doctorate training with a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He was trained in the latest pain intervention techniques and procedures during his fellowship, including epidural injections, facet injections, radiofrequency ablations, kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty and nerve blocks. His medical and research interests include interventional pain management, cancer pain management, electrodiagnostic medicine and cement vertebral augmentation. He wanted to join a practice that matched his own personal philosophy when it comes to patient care. Dr Chavez said, "By treating a patient as you would a member of your own family, you will most recently never be in danger of offering a procedure that is too risky or a treatment option that will futile." Placing patients first is what separates from the rest in Austin. "Our goal is to get you better and back to your life, not to have you stuck in an endless cycle of procedures and surgery."
