Dr. Julius P. Bonello received his undergraduate degree from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He went on to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota for his doctorate and postgraduate studies. His training continued at the University of Minnesota Hospitals, doing an internship and residency. He finished his residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. He completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Bonello has more than 24 years of experience in Colon and Rectal Surgery. Medicine is not only Dr. Bonello??s profession, it is his hobby as well. He has become an expert in the history of medicine. His lecture on Civil War Medicine has been presented nationally and he is currently editing a book on the history of medicine. Dr. Bonello is a faculty member at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and is on staff at three Peoria hospitals. Dr. Bonello lives in Peoria with his wife and eight children. He joined the medical staff at PMH in December 2006 as a member of Princeton Surgical Services.
