Ellison Berns, MD, FACC graduated from Georgetown University of School of Medicine in 1979. He completed three years of training in Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and is board certified. Dr. Berns is board certified in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology, having completed training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Berns joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1988. He developed the electrophysiology programs at St Francis and New Britain General Hospitals. He also developed the first interventional and ablation electrophysiology programs in Connecticut at St. Francis Hospital. He developed the interventional electrophysiology programs at Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center. He remains active in the teaching and research programs at St. Francis Hospital and the University of Connecticut.
