Dr. Angela Ryan has always had an interest in the relationship between physical and emotional health. She majored in psychobiology as an undergraduate student at Hamilton College, conducted clinical research at the Yale Center for Eating and Weight Disorders and basic science research on neurodegenerative disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital. It was as a medical student at the University of Connecticut that she was first introduced to the field of physiatry, a field that appreciates the connection between the mind and the body, the emotional and the physical. She was attracted to the holistic approach, the variety of diagnoses, the emphasis on function, and maximizing quality of life. Dr. Ryan completed her medical internship at Lenox Hill Hospital, and her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School where she won the Exemplary Leadership Award. To maintain her own physical and emotional health she has made running a regular part of her life for the past 11 years and has more recently incorporated yoga into her regimen. Dr. Ryan continues to believe strongly in a comprehensive approach to diagnose and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological injuries and is excited to return to the New York Metro area to join The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center.
