Amy Smith, MD, is a pediatric oncologist who is a member of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Specialty Section at MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Smith received her medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Following her medical degree, she completed an internship in pediatrics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, where she also completed her pediatric residency. Dr. Smith then completed her postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplantation from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Prior to joining MD Anderson Orlando, Dr. Smith worked as an assistant professor of pediatrics as well as a joint assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery for the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. She has won many honors and awards, including receiving the Best Doctors in America honor for 2009 and 2010 and the 2010 Ocala Royal Dames: Royal Lady Award. Dr. Smith has many published articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as a published book chapter. She involved with many professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and the Childrens Oncology Group, where she is a full member.
