Brief Intro

Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I am a third-generation nurse. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1993, I immediately began working in cardiology. It wasn't until I had my first child that I realized the challenges of breastfeeding. I was 24 years old and even with being a nurse, I faced many difficulties. After receiving help, I was able to successfully breastfeed. I now have five children, ages 9 to 25 years old. I switched my career focus to women and children, became board certified in lactation, advanced my degree to a board-certified Family Practice Nurse Practitioner and recently obtained my Doctorate in Nursing Practice.What I want my patients to know about me:I am passionate about caring for women and children. My goal is to help all women reach their personal breastfeeding goals. Many women desire to breastfeed exclusively, others may need a more tailored plan that fits their family life or abilities. Every woman has a story and I love walking beside them on their journey. Having a baby is one of the most joyful times in life but also one of the most stressful; I want my patients to know they are not alone. What I do when I'm not seeing patients:Outside of working full time, I am a wife and mother of five. Being a mother has been my greatest reward in life. I enjoy all of my children's activities. My husband and I work out together everyday. We enjoy traveling and opening our home to large gatherings and celebrations. We have two Goldendoodles and a Maltese who consider themselves my other 3 children. I also enjoy golfing and, when I retire one day, I want the beach and a golf course in my backyard.
