I am an interventional cardiologist and assistant professor of medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine. I grew up in Greenville, SC and obtained my bachelor's degree in chemistry magna cum laude from Furman University. I graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine before moving to Ohio for my internship and residency in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University. I was chosen to be a Chief Medical Resident, where I devoted my time to patient care, teaching, and quality improvement. I then secured a highly competetive cardiology fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where I also trained in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease. During this fellowship, I carved out some time for a Master in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. My research interests are in patient-centered and patient-reported outcomes following invasive procedures particularly in vulnerable populations who are frequently excluded from large clinical trials. I have obtained both foundational and industry grants focusing on health care disparities to move this mission forward. My clinical care philosophy is to understand patient goals and preferences through high-quality shared decision making leveraging multidisciplinary teams. Providing goal-congruent care is only possible when we ask patients what it is that they hope to achieve with their healthcare decisions. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, who is a vascular surgeon here at UF, and our young children. My husband and I often work together managing our complex cardiovascular patients and even write papers together. My hobbies include running, trying new recipes, and traveling.
