Brief Intro

Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I absolutely enjoy helping people and making a difference! My mom pursued nursing when I was little and I just fell in love with learning about the nursing and medical world, the anatomy of the body, disease processes, the nurturing atmosphere, the diversity. I pursued my nursing career immediately after high school and completed my Bachelor's in 2002. I moved from Virginia and started my career at Johns Hopkins in Oncology, which was very rewarding but challenging at times. I soon learned that I wanted more, so I went back to school to obtain my Master's Degree to become a ACNP in 2005.What I want my patients to know about me:I'm originally from Virginia and am the oldest of 5 children. I married my high school sweetheart and we have 2 wonderful children! I enjoy traveling and outdoor activities/adventures. I also enjoy exercising/weight training at the gym and running. I've completed 2 Tough Mudders so far and am looking to complete my 3rd one in July 2018. I have both Oncology & Bariatric experience as well as 10 years of surgical/wound experience. I absolutely love my nursing career and always want what's best for my patients! I truly enjoy making a difference in peoples lives, no matter how big or small. What I do when I'm not seeing patients:When I am not seeing patients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. My evenings are filled with going to the gym for a quick work out, zipping off to the kids' sporting and school events, homework, cooking and daily household chores. On the weekends, we enjoy family outings with friends and family, traveling, movies and church.I'm always on the go but I like to think that it keeps me young. I think I enjoy the chaos.
