I am from Sri Lanka and knew I wanted to become a physician from a very young age. The general practitioner who took care of me as a child was my inspiration. I was impressed by how very caring and gentle he was. This made me go into pediatrics, and I have been practicing for over 40 years (over 30 years with Kaiser Permanente). I have three children, the eldest of whom is also a pediatrician.
