Dr. William Assad is a Board Certified Radiation Oncologist who has served as the Chief of Tampa General Hospital's Radiation Therapy Department since 1989. Dr. Assad is also an associate member of the Radiation Oncology Department at the University of South Florida's H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. He currently serves among the staff of Tampa General Hospital, Memorial Hospital, and Brandon Regional Hospital. Dr. Assad received his degree from University of Cairo, Egypt in 1974 and completed his residency and fellowship in General Surgery in 1981. He then completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 1985, serving as Chief Resident and during his last year he was appointed Attending Physician. Aside from being a specialist on cancers of the neck, lung, pancreas, esophagus, breast and prostate. Dr. Assad has a special interest in brachytherapy seed implant for prostate and melanoma of eye. His professional affiliations include membership in The American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology. He is also an associate member of the American Society of Head and Neck Surgery and Florida Society of Clinical Oncology.
