Dr. Scherer earned his Bachelor of Science Degree and Doctor of Medicine from State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude, respectively, as well as a PhD in visual neuroscience. His program of study included an internship at the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, with a focus on internal medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Michigan's W.K. Kellogg eye care center in Ann Arbor. Prior to joining St. Luke's Cataract & Laser Insititute, Dr. Scherer practiced at Florida and also at UPMC eye care center of Pittsburg, PA where he was a clinical assistant professor.
