As chief of the Section of Surgical Oncology, Dr. Mesko ensures active research is coupled with the latest surgical techniques to treat malignant tumors. He takes a special interest in educating up-and-coming doctors, serving as program director of Mount Sinai's General Surgery Residency Program and the Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program. Dr. Mesko is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine and a clinical faculty member at Barry University. He is also clinical associate professor of surgery at the Florida International University School of Medicine.
Dr. Mesko specializes in minimally invasive procedures to treat cancers of the head and neck, breast, thyroid, parathyroid, soft tissue, skin (melanoma) and gastrointestinal tract. His goal is to provide patients with high quality, compassionate and individualized patient care in order to give the best surgical outcomes.
A graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Mesko completed post-graduate training in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. This was followed by surgical oncology fellowships at Tulane University Medical Center/Charity Hospital in New Orleans and Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Mesko has been recognized as one of "Florida's Super Doctors" and one of U.S. News and World Report's "Best Doctors in America."
