Dr. Samar Ray is an orthopaedic surgeon on staff at several major Omaha hospitals that include Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Children's Memorial Hospital, Alegent Health-Bergan Mercy Memorial Hospital, Alegent Health Immanuel Medical Center, and University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Dr. Ray is from India, where he received an undergraduate degree from N.D. College in Howrah, West Bengal, India. He completed his internship at Medical College Hospitals and his medical degree from the Medical College in Calcutta. Dr. Ray attended a postgraduate program at the University of Glasgow, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, in the United Kingdom. He completed two fellowships; the first, at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the second, at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He attended four years of residency in the United Kingdom. Dr. Ray came to the United States in 1976 to fulfill a residency program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
He is board certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Ray is certified with the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates. He also holds membership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Ray has authored published articles in Surgical Forum, The Nebraska Medical Journal, and in Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research.
