Martin G. Luken, III, M.D., is an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Rush Medical College, Rush University Medical Center Chicago, IL. A board-certified neurosurgeon with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Luken has a wealth of experience treating the full spectrum of neurological conditions. Highly regarded for his surgical skill, Dr. Luken has a special interest and expertise in caring for patients with brain and spinal cord tumors, as well as degenerative diseases of the spine. Dr. Luken earned his medical degree in 1973 from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He spent the next two years as an internal medicine intern and an assistant resident at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. In 1975, he moved to Chicago where he held a yearlong surgical residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Medical Center. In 1976, Dr. Luken returned to New York as an assistant resident and later, chief resident of neurosurgery at the Neurological Institute of New York, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Luken won the prestigious Annual Resident Award from the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Luken is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Neurological Society of America, and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
