Katerina Backus, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified American Academy of Pediatrics and sports medicine physician with AdventHealth Medical Group Pediatric Orthopedics team. She is one of only a few select physicians to have achieved a patient satisfaction rating in the 99th percentile from surveys conducted by Press Ganey, and has earned multiple awards for her outstanding academic achievements. Her specialties include pediatric sports injuries, nonoperative musculoskeletal injuries, pediatric diseases affecting kid's mobility, and concussion management. An honors graduate of the University of Richmond, she attended medical school at the University of Maryland, where she received a Gudelsky Foundation Scholarship and was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Backus carried out her internship and residency training in pediatrics at the University of Florida/Shands Hospital Department of Pediatrics in Gainesville before embarking on an advanced fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
