Dr. Wander was born and raised in Downers Grove. He attended the University of Illinois where he was an Edmund J. James Scholar and completed medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. From 1967-1969. While in Korea he was assigned to the Republic of Korea Army where he received the Army Commendation Medal. Dr. Wander returned to the University of Illinois to complete his residency in General Surgery. Thereafter he served on the faculty for more than three years and was named an American Cancer Society Fellow in Surgical Oncology. He joined our practice in 1976. Dr. Wander is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. During his career, Dr. Wander has been involved in teaching Surgical Residents from the University of Illinois and Physician Assistant students from Midwestern University. He was named a Top Doctor by Chicago Magazine, for his subspecialty of Surgical Oncology. He has volunteered for medical/surgical care for patients in the Republic of South Korea and Guatemala.
