Dr. John L. Pendergrass is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi. He graduated from Delta State College and received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He then served the U.S. Air Force as Flight Surgeon at DaNang Air Base in Vietnam, and received the Air Medal. Specialty training in Ophthalmology was completed at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He joined Green Eye Institute in 1975.
