Welcome to My Doctor Online, a web site that my colleagues and I developed to make it easier for you to take care of your healthcare needs. On this site you will find answers to many of your questions about my clinical practice. Also included are several online features that will allow you to e-mail me, check your laboratory results and refill prescriptions. I hope you find its content informative and useful. Background
I was a military brat and grew up moving every 2-4 years - east coast, west coast, east coast, west coast, until we landed in Terra Linda, California at age 15. I attended the University of California at Berkeley (Go Bears!) and graduated with a degree in biochemistry.
After living in Jalisco, Mexico for 2 years, I received my medical training at Wayne State University School of Medicine. I finished my internship in OBGYN at St. John's Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and headed home to complete my residency in OBGYN at the University of California at Davis.
I was in private practice in Sonoma County for 22 years before joining Kaiser Permanente in 2006. I was on the faculty staff at the Residency program at Community Hospital of Santa Rosa from 1985 until 2002. I helped teach (and received great teachings) from many of the excellent Family Physicians now on staff at Kaiser Santa Rosa. I know many of the outstanding Obstetricians here at Kaiser for years through my two terms as president of the Sonoma County OBGYN Society. It is a great privilege to join this great group of doctors.
I believe that pregnant women are healthy women. Pregnancy is a state of super health and my job is to give counsel to keep pregnant women healthy. There are so many options and opportunities available to women in The United States that one of my great responsibilities to help inform women and their families of all their choices. Then, they can choose the path that works best for them individually. As a big believer in natural childbirth and graceful aging I try and impart a balance between the techno babble that surrounds and confuses us each day and the underlying truth of our own ability to take the responsibility to primarily take care of ourselves without needless intervention.
