Dr. Jerry Lorio specializes in orthopedic surgery, including hip replacement, knee replacement, shoulder replacement and sports medicine. His true professional passion is in the area of total knee replacement surgery. He has designed a series of techniques and complimentary instruments to optimize balancing, alignment and rotation. He believes every knee has a unique design and a knee replacement should model that design. In 2002 Dr. Lorio received the "Selakovich Award", a UAMS faculty teaching award for his total joint replacement surgery techniques taught to UAMS orthopedic residents. Although he enjoys a well rounded practice in general orthopedics with a specialty interest in joint reconstruction, he treats each patient in a way he would want a member of his family treated. He recognizes that it is a team effort between patient, physician, and the hospital with open lines of communication to get the optimal end result.
