Jayson Neil, MD, FAANS, FCNS, is an experienced, Board-certified neurosurgeon with AdventHealth Medical Group Neurosurgery at Shawnee Mission. He has trained and practiced extensively in the field of neurosurgery, including completing fellowships in both spine surgery and skull base surgery.Well-respected for the depth and breadth of his neurosurgical expertise, Dr. Neil has earned numerous honors for clinical and surgical excellence, including being named 2022 Doctor of the Year by the Top 100 Registry, 2020 Patient Preferred Neurosurgeon and 2019 Top Neurological Surgeon by Leading Physicians of the World. After earning his medical degree from New York Medical College, Dr. Neil completed an internship and residency in neurosurgery, including service as chief resident. During residency, he completed a spine surgery fellowship, also at New York Medical College, and then went on to complete another fellowship, this one in skull base surgery, at the University of Utah. Before joining AdventHealth in 2024, Dr. Neil worked as a neurosurgeon with Midwest Neurosurgery Associates and in various clinical leadership roles with HCA Midwest Health.Each year, as part of a medical mission he helped create, Dr. Neil travels to the Dominican Republic to provide neurosurgical care to babies and children in need. The award-winning program is the only program of its kind in the Dominican Republic.When he's not performing surgery, Dr. Neil enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and he is an avid skier, rock climber and whitewater rafter.
