He has worked in medical, physical rehabilitation, substance abuse rehabilitation and psychiatric facilities in rural, suburban and inner-city settings.James’ expertise grew from practical experience and interests in helping families and individuals overcome life’s roadblocks, disappointments, tragedies and traumas over the past twenty-five years.As one of ten children, he experienced first hand the stress, collective struggles, and loss a large family on limited means can face. James earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University, and a Doctorate degree from Argosy, formerly known as the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Later interning at the West Side VAMC in Chicago. His dissertation was a study on collaborative relationships with behavioral health service providers and medicine.James trained in Family therapy at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Later gaining additional speciality training in Behavior Medicine, Family Therapy, and Christian Counseling.
