Why Ophthalmology?
“I grew up assisting my father, who is an Ophthalmologist, performing minor eye surgeries in the office. I was fascinated with the field, especially when he said that I’ve got the hands of an Ophthalmologist. Since then, I was convinced to get into the field to save and improve vision as a career!”
Claudio A. Ferreira, MD specializes in medical and surgical Vitreo-retinal Diseases management. and treats the following eye conditions: Macular degeneration; Diabetic eye disease; Macular holes, Puckers and Tears, Retinal detachments, Flashes and Floaters, Glaucoma, Ocular Pain, Blurry Vision, and Ocular Emergencies.
Dr. Ferreira’s deep-rooted desire to help people came from watching his father who was an Ophthalmologist. Since then, Dr. Ferreira has continued to learn from Ophthalmologists from all over the world. After studying medicine in Brazil, he completed his General Surgery Internship and Ophthalmology Residency at University of California Los Angeles. Further, he performed a Medical and Surgical Vitreo-retinal Fellowship at University of Virginia and a Surgical Vitreo-retinal Fellowship at University of Tennessee. For 20 plus years, Dr. Ferreira has played a key role in successfully saving and improving vision for thousands of patients.
