My name is Celia K. Nelson, MD, FACS, and I am a board-certified general surgeon that has been providing surgical care to the residents of Lake County, Florida, and surrounding areas since 1992. As a general surgeon, I perform multiple surgeries, including for breast cancer and other breast diseases, hernia repairs, colon and small bowel diseases, gall bladder removal, excision of skin and soft tissue masses, as well as vascular access for chemotherapy.I grew up in Jamaica and as early as I can recall, I planned on becoming a doctor when I grew up. I decided to pursue general surgery as a specialty during medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, now known as Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, and followed suit with five years of surgical residency training.I have a particular interest in breast cancer, likely because of the impact of breast cancer in my family, but I enjoy performing a wide range of surgeries.I am committed to providing attentive and compassionate care for my patients ---- I consider it an honor and privilege to do so.I endeavor to honor God in all that I do and with any work that I put my hands to.
