Brief Intro

Dr. Arnold Smith has been practicing as a radiation oncologist in Northwest Arkansas since 2003. After graduating from the Washington University School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1998, Dr. Smith completed an internship in internal medicine at Barnes – Jewish Hospital in St. Louis Missouri. In 2003 he then completed a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and was chief resident there from 2002 – 2003. During his residency, he completed clinical rotations in pediatric oncology at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis. He also completed rotations at MD Anderson Cancer Center specializing in Physics & ENT malignancies. Additional specialty training in prostate brachytherapy was completed with a training course at the Seattle Prostate Institute. He became board certified in radiation oncology in 2003 from the American Board of Radiology. In April 2003, Dr. Smith joined Drs. Hershey Garner and Joe Ross with Ozark Radiation Oncology and provided professional radiation services to the Northwest Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute (NARTI) until May of 2008 when he and his partners joined the Highlands Oncology Group, PA providing radiation oncology services as part of a comprehensive cancer care center approach bringing radiation oncology under the umbrella of oncology services. Dr. Smith specializes in head and neck radiation oncology, prostate brachytherapy, intracavitary (GYN) brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and intraluminal brachytherapy. While he is not attending to his patients, he is passionate about his family and especially enjoys hiking, camping and motorcycling through the Ozarks.
