Brief Intro

Dr. Mendell is board certified in child, adult, and geriatric psychiatry with 20 years experience in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy of children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Mendell was Chief Resident of Outpatient Services at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky; where he completed his psychiatry residency. He participated in the Child Analytic Study Program and Infant Study Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where he completed his Child Psychiatry fellowship, and he served on the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He has been Clinical Director of adolescent treatment units at West Oaks Hospital and Bellaire General Hospital in Houston, Texas and the adult treatment unit at Pine Crest Hospital in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Dr. Mendell also received comprehensive training in Psychoanalysis, Play therapy, and Family therapy at the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Mendell has a particular interest and experience in treating childhood and adulthood ADHD and other impulse control disorders, although he maintains a general practice in treating a variety of child, adolescent, and adult issues.
