Meet Amethyst Maxey Amethyst Maxey has been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner for the last 3 years. Prior to obtaining her Master’s degree, she worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years in several different settings.Her approach to service and treatment is always patient centered. She a huge advocate for patient’s rights and encourage my patient’s to be involved in their own medical decisions. She strive on developing strong relationships with my patients and being the most compassionate, empathetic and nonjudgmental person so they can feel comfortable talking to me and opening up about their health concerns. Amethyst Maxey finds that educating her patients and promoting a healthy lifestyle is an essential part of care as medication is not always the answer to every problem. Prevention is key to many diseases. She educates her patient’s not only on healthy lifestyles but disease processes, medication management and non-medication management options. She provides her care through evidence-based practice, clinical experience and personal observation. She find it rewarding when she sees her patients living their best lives and coming back to her and saying thank you. Maxey like to know that I have made a difference in her patient’s lives. It’s the most rewarding feeling and why I do this job. She was born on a farm in Wisconsin and moved to Chicago, IL when she was 18 years old where she was able to attend college and obtain her degrees. Her hobbies include reading, trying new restaurants, tennis, travelling and many other things.
