After working in a laboratory for seven years, Jacob Coughlin, PA-C, discovered he wanted to help people directly. Becoming a physician assistant was the perfect path for him. Jacob’s relationship with his doctor growing up strongly influenced his decision to go into primary care. He credits much of his success to his parents, who raised him to work hard and treat others with respect.Jacob looks forward to helping patients in times of need. He has special interests in diabetes and preventative medicine. When patients leave the office, he wants them to feel like they’ve been educated and have a plan to move forward. Outside of the office, he mentors and is a preceptor for physician assistants, nurse practitioners and medical students. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, camping and traveling.I believe that high-quality primary care is the foundation of the healthcare system. It starts with trust between a patient and their provider as we work to find the right lifestyle choices to improve, or maintain, the patients’ health. I enjoy partnering with patients to monitor their progress. When diet and exercise are not enough, we look to evidence-based medicine to find safe and effective treatments. My ultimate goal is help my patients lead a long, healthy and happy life.
