Meet Dr. Drew Parkhurst
Dr. Parkhurst earned his B.S. in Athletic Training at Michigan State University where he cared primarily for Football, Men’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball. Prior to attending medical school, he was the athletic trainer for the Women’s Soccer and Women’s Lacrosse teams at the University of Denver. Following medical school at Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine, he remained at Michigan State where he completed residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, serving as Chief Resident in his fourth year.
Dr. Parkhurst furthered his education after residency with multiple fellowships at Michigan State University involving interventional spine, electromyography, and sports medicine.
He has published several articles about nerve injury and electrodiagnostic testing as well as presenting at national conferences.
Throughout his training, he has provided medical care for local high schools, USA Figure Skating, and multiple varsity teams at Michigan State University including: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Gymnastics, Golf, Soccer, Track & Field/Cross Country, and Crew.
Dr. Parkhurst is triple board certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation, electromyography, and sports medicine.
His treatment philosophy focuses on taking the time to listen and educate patients while using shared decision making to discuss all options and select the most appropriate treatment together. Dr. Parkhurst values the patient’s role as a key member of the treatment team. His primary goal is to restore and improve function in athletes of all ages and all activity levels.
He and his wife moved to Traverse City with a tremendous love for the outdoors. They enjoy hiking, paddle boarding, snow shoeing, and training for triathlons.
