Born in China. I have been interested in life sciences ever since I was in grade school. Becoming a doctor was my top career choice when I applied for college. I began my medical studies at Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China. Later, I came to the United States and completed my medical degree at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. My internship and resident training are in internal medicine at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, where the Parkland Hospital is located. I also completed a rheumatology fellowship, and earned a PhD in pharmacology there. I practiced as a hospitalist and rheumatologist in Baylor Health System before moving to Seattle. It was in Dallas I met my husband and we have two sons.
