Walter Pegoli, M.D., Chief of Pediatric Surgery, Surgeon-in-Chief at Golisano Children's Hospital and Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He received his M.D. from the New York Medical College, completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Maryland. After residency, Dr. Pegoli attended Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery. Dr. Pegoli joined the Department of Surgery in 1997 and has been Chief since that time. He became surgeon and chief at Golisano Children's Hospital in 2006. His areas of specialty are neonatal surgery, non-cardiac thoracic surgery, complex gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology. Dr. Pegoli is the Director of Pediatric Trauma at Golisano Children's Hospital, and Co-Chair of Golisano Children's Hospital Executive Council and at the University of Rochester Medical Center is Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs in the Department of Surgery, Co-Chair of Acute Services Task Force, Co-Chair of the Pediatric Program Management Council and Co-Chair of the Inpatient Surgical Coordinating Council. , Dr. Pegoli, sits on several boards and societies.
