Dr. Lam's story is one of great courage, perseverance, and human spirit. Accompanied by an aging grandmother, he and his three siblings escaped Vietnam in 1981. They arrived in the U.S. knowing no English, and yet seven years later, young Tuan graduated from high school as Valedictorian and was accepted at Yale College. His parents were eventually able to join the family here, and he could finally devote full concentration to his medical studies. It is very gratifying to be able to operate on and mend the hearts of very sick people and make such a contribution to their lives. I treat every patient with compassionate care from pre-operative planning to meticulous surgical techniques, to postoperative care. I want to ensure they get the best care available. Outside the office, Dr. Lam treasures spending time with his family, whether just relaxing or traveling. He is also a fan of astronomy, gardening and bicycling.
