Of all the disciplines available to a young medical student, helping patients with chronic pain is what first interested Dr. Tracey Pennington. For her though, it became a two-fold discipline. With a medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, she offers SMOC’s patients unique non-surgical approaches to minimizing pain and restoring full body function.
Dr. Pennington’s integrated internship and residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio has been enhanced by a broad range of transcontinental experiences. She has been an attending physician in San Rafael, California as well as in Sherman, Texas, and practiced as a locum tenens physician in Modesto, California, Vacaville, California and Charleston, West Virginia.
A board-certified physiatrist at SMOC, Dr. Tracey Pennington diagnoses, evaluates and treats people impaired or disabled by a breakdown in musculoskeletal, neurologic, cardiovascular, or other body systems. Her public health background however, allows her to also help her patients restore not just their physical selves. She helps them through the impact their injury has on their psychological, social and vocational function as well.
