Brief Intro

I was born in Providence, Rhode Island. My family moved to Southern California when I was six years old and I've lived here ever since. I grew up in Orange County, and from a young age I was interested in science. In addition, my parents taught me that medicine is a challenging and noble profession. When I was 15 years old, I did volunteer work in the Emergency Department of a local hospital, where I observed the numerous ways in which physicians provide care and comfort to those in need. These experiences led me to a pre-med major at UC San Diego, and then I attended the School of Medicine of USC. During medical school, I developed a special interest in the nervous system, which led me to choose neurosurgery as my specialty. During my residency training, I spent a year doing epilepsy research. At that time, my wife-to-be was an undergraduate student working in the same lab. We fell in love studying rat brains and have been inseparable ever since.
