Dr. Gelwix is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and has special training in Shock Trauma. Before starting a practice in Blackfoot, Dr. Gelwix worked at the Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur'd Alene and Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Illinios. Dr. Gelwix went to medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his residency through Akron City Hospital in Ohio. Dr. Gelwix loves the excitement and the mix of cases that come through the ER everyday, from dislocations to lacerations and everything in between. He also finds it very rewarding to identify obscure symptoms that help improve the treatment of patients when every minute counts. He, his wife, and 5 children moved out west to be closer to family. When he s not spending time with his family, Dr. Gelwix enjoys playing guitar, running, and riding his motorcycle.
