Dr. Thomas Lammertse specializes in orthopedic, stroke, brain injury and amputee rehabilitation. He is experienced in the care and treatment of individuals with a wide range of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and other neurological disorders, as well as such specialized areas as gait dysfunction, Huntington's disease, reflex sympathetic dystrophy and occupational medicine.
He was awarded his medical degree from Ohio State University and went on to complete a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He was board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1985, and received additional certification in electrodiagnostic medicine in 1989. He also earned a Masters degree in Medical Management from the University of Southern California in 2003.
Prior to joining Kessler in 1990, Dr. Lammertse served as the director of the spinal cord program at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT, and as a physiatrist in the amputee clinic at Hartford Hospital. He also served as a medical consultant for Ohio’s Bureau of Disability Determination and for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Columbus and Franklin Counties. He has also worked for the U.S. Public Health Service and in the field of industrial medicine.
A noted educator, Dr. Lammertse taught chemistry at Ohio State University and was a clinical instructor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at Yale University.
Dr. Lammertse has a number of research interests, including head injuries and electromyography. He is Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a member of a number of professional organizations.
