Growing up during the turmoil of the Cultural Revolution in Shanghai, China, I came to sunny Southern California at age 19. I completed my undergraduate education in chemistry at UCLA before going to the East Coast for medical school. I enjoy the challenge of learning science and seeking new ways to fight cancer. I have been very active in cancer treatment research since I started my medical training at the Mayo Clinic. I have had numerous publications in respected and peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood and Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
