Brief Intro

Dr. Dagi was a practicing neurosurgeon and is a successful innovator in medical devices and health care services with regulatory and clinical trial experience. He taught and practiced neurosurgery for 15 years (with special expertise in neuro-oncology, spinal reconstruction, brain stimulation, trauma and pain, and has developed innovative devices for epilepsy, bone fusion, and drug delivery systems) before becoming a leading expert in the field of technology assessment and investment. Dr. Dagi has researched and developed numerous advancements in the field of medicine such as cortical stimulation systems for the treatment of epilepsy, sterotactic, and skull base surgery as well as artificial intelligence applications for surgical diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Dagi has been a partner at HLM Venture Partners (a firm dedicated to providing venture capital to emerging companies) since 2006 and primarily focuses on health care information technology, health care services, and medical devices. From 1996-2006, Dr. Dagi served as a Managing Partner of Cordova Ventures in Atlanta where he oversaw their life sciences and healthcare portfolio which included: biotechnology, biopharma, medical devices, informatics, diagnostics, imaging and medical services. From 1995-1996, he was a Principal at Access Partners. Prior to 1995, he spent over a decade advising venture groups and financial institutions on investments in health care services and health care technologies. Dr. Dagi trained in Neurosurgery and Neurophysiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and was a Neuroresearch Foundation Fellow at Harvard Medical School. He received his M.D. and M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins, his MTS from Harvard (where he was appointed a Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Fellow), his M.B.A. in Finance and Strategic Planning from Wharton, and his A.B. from Columbia College. He is also a diplomat of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Dagi has taught and practiced neurosurgery on the faculties of Harvard, Brown, and Georgetown Universities, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the National Institutes of Health. He has held appointments at MIT, the National Institutes of Health, and the Medical College of Georgia. He was the Senior Registrar at the Neurosurgical Unit of the Guy's, Maudsley and King's College Hospitals in London, and the Director of the Goergen Entrepreneurship Institute of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves as a Board of Directors Observer at MedVentive and Teladoc and is on the advisory board of Vengrowth and Oxford Financial Corporation. He sits on the steering committee of the Program in Biomedical Entrepreneurship of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Previously, Dr. Dagi: was the director of 14 publicly traded and privately held companies, chaired the Life Sciences International Advisory Panel for Northern Ireland, consulted on drugs and devices to the FDA and the Office of Technology Assessment of the Congress of the United States, consulted in clinical and development strategies to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries in the US and abroad, was the director of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, authored or co-authored over 150 articles and chapters and edited or co-authored five books, and played an active role in medical contingency planning for military operations in the office of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (where he served as a Special Assistant in the roll-out of surgical and multi-specialty physician networks and as and Advisor to insurance companies and medical specialty groups on health care quality issues).
