Dr. Shanmugam is a board certified rheumatologist who has been practicing in the Philadelphia suburbs for over 10 years.Dr. Shanmugam completed her internal medicine training from Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health and went on to be Assistant Professor of Medicine at Abington Hospital prior to competing her rheumatology fellowship training at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. She is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and a member of the Pennsylvania Rheumatology Society.She truly believes that a physician patient relationship that is built on trust helps patients feel healthy and get better soon. She devotes a lot of her time during each patient visit to talk to patients about their health and makes sure she address all their concerns. Dr. Shanmugam is an expert in diagnosing and treating a variety of rheumatological conditions. Her areas of interest are treating inflammatory arthritis, osteoporosis, systemic lupus ,and inflammatory myositis. Her personal mission is to treat the patient not just the diseaseTo provide the best care is to provide timely care. Dr.Shanmugam has created an Early Arthritis Referral Program with the mission to provide early access, to patient with inflammation related arthritis, before the disease can cause irreversible joint damage.Dr. Shanmugam's primary goal is to provide an atmosphere where all patients feel welcome, safe, and cared for.
