Dr. Steven Swengel is a board-certified dermatologist with over thirty years of experience in dermatology. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. His dermatology residency and Mohs training was the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During his education, he was elected to both Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega honor societies. He is board-certified in dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.From 1980 to 2010, he practiced clinical dermatology and Mohs surgery with The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. and was Chief of the Department at Santa Teresa for 23 of those years.He established the Mohs Surgery Unit at San Jose Kaiser in 1980 and was its medical director and general supervisor. The Mohs Unit and laboratory completed 3,000 cases and over 12,000 microscopy procedures per year under his supervision.Dr. Swengel is the CEO and Medical Director for Refined Dermatology in Los Gatos, CA.
