Brief Intro

Dr. Rawe graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurological surgery at Yale Medical Center and earned a PhD in neuroanatomy from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where he served as an associate professor. While on staff at MUSC, he established a minimally invasive microsurgical pituitary practice and obtained NIH research funding for experimental spinal cord trauma. Dr. Rawe is board certified in neurosurgery and has been instrumental in introducing new technology to Charleston. He was the first neurosurgeon in the Charleston area to perform pedicle screw instrumentation, kyphoplasty for osteoporotic compression fractures and artificial cervical disc surgery. He continues to be involved in innovative spinal fusion techniques and has extensive experience with the interspinous process distraction for spinal stenosis. Dr. Rawe is an active member and past president of the South Carolina Association of Neurological Surgeons and is a founding member of the South Carolina Spine Society and served as its first president.
