Brief Intro

Hello, my name is Smitha Kumar and I have a very international background. I was born and raised in SOuthern India but went to medical scholl in Russia as an exchange student. I completed my premed in the Ukraine and earned my medical degree from the Tashkent Medical Institute in Tashkent, Russia. I worked briefly in India after my graduation and then moved to the United States to be with my husband. Here, I complered my residency in Family Practice Medicine at Natividad Medical Center through the UCSF medical school residency program. I spent much time with the Hispanic population during this time and learned much above their culture and language, and am comfortable treating Spanish speaking patients. For me becoming a doctor is what I always wanted to do. I was inspired by my mother who is also a doctor and from a very early age I knew this was the career I wanted as well. My strength as a physucuan, I would say, is that I am a good listener and I belive in partnering healthcare with my patients. During my free time, I love to travel, take long walks and spend time with husband, preteen aughter and 4 year old German Shepard.
