Brief Intro

Dr. Sherman Leis is Professor, Chair and Residency Program Director of the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in PCOM's Department of Surgery. In these capacities he teaches an introduction and overview course on plastic and reconstructive surgery and units on aesthetic surgery, burn treatment and skin tumors, supervises core curriculum study, and organizes case reviews, conferences and video clubs. Dr. Leis is also an adjunct clinical faculty member of the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine and a lecturer at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Leis is the author of "Desmoid Tumor - A Case Study: Benign Neoplasm, Not a Benign Disease" in the Journal of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association (1985) and "Skin grafting: Contemporary Concepts and Applications" in the Journal of the American Medical Association (1975). Dr. Leis was the first osteopathic physician to lecture to the French Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, was responsible for the Swedish Government's full recognition of the D.O. degree, and was the first Osteopathic physician licensed to practice medicine in Sweden.
