Dr. Bjerke chose the medical field because he enjoys fixing things whether it is household items, automobiles, or restoring someone to health after an accident. His wife, son and parents have inspired him to pursue and continue down this career path. Dr. Bjerke also gives thanks to his patients for the reminder that helping one's neighbor is the most rewarding thing a person can do. When he comes to work, he enjoys the opportunity to make the world a better, safer place, every day. Dr. Bjerke has a special interest in trauma education, Stop the Bleed, as well as Ethics in Trauma Care. When he isn't at work he volunteers at charitable events and supporting medical student and resident education.A traumatic injury is the last thing one expects to interrupt their day and it is often the most dramatic thing that has ever happened to them or their family in their entire life. I take pride in saving people from horrible accidents but also in guiding the family and friends through the process of healing both the injuries and the anguish that comes from a loved one being hurt.
