Dr. Heiner was raised in the suburbs of Chicago and is a graduate of the Honors Program in Medicine at Northwestern University. She trained at UCSF/Mt Zion and has been in Las Vegas/Henderson since 1986. She was in private practice from 1986 to 2008 and left to attend to family issues. After working at an Urgent Care for 18 months she was asked by the board of directors of Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada to set up and run the first free clinic in the area. She remained in this job until early 2011 when she decided to return to private practice so she could get back to more direct patient care. Dr. Heiner is married and lives in south Henderson. She has one grown son, four grown step-children and two grand-daughters. She is an active member of Community Lutheran church in Las Vegas, likes to walk her dog Ozzie, and she and her husband enjoy sailing their small sailboat on Lake Mead.
