Dr. Shah completed his internship in cardiology at the United Hospitals Medical Center in New Jersey, as well as his residency and fellowship in Cardiology at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital, in Pittsburgh, PA. He is board certified in the fields of internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Shah's training also included computer methods for analysis of perfusion imaging studies, including single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and ejection fraction and regional wall motion measurements from radionuclide angiographic studies. Dr. Shah also has extensive experience in all modalities of heart catheterization and vascular angiography, and is a leader in the area of Pittsburgh in interventional cardiology (all modalities of coronary stenting, etc.).
Committed to modern-day, outpatient medicine, Dr. Shah is the head of the Department of Nuclear Diagnostic Testing at Pittsburgh Cardiovascular Institute and Med Health Services. He holds active privileges at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital, the Western Pennsylvania Hospital Forbes Regional Campus, UPMC St. Margaret Hospital and the Armstrong County Medical Center in Kittanning.
